AREAS OF STUDY

For those interested in my background, below I elaborate on my formal educational training:

  • B.A. in Transpersonal Psychology from Prescott College

  • Graduated in 1987 with 1250 hours from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson, AZ, specializing in sports massage. Margaret Avery and Toni Gallagher from Esalen Institute were DIHA's founders.

  • Explored energy trainings in Shiatsu, Jin Shin Jyutsu (with Mary Burmeister), Reiki, and Touch for Health, before landing in Structural Integration and Craniosacral work.

  • Completed the basic training in Dr. Rolf’s method in 1995, and in 2002 attained advanced certification - both from the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado. Peter Melchior and Emmett Hutchins (two of Dr. Rolf's first appointed teachers for the basic and advanced trainings) were among my primary instructors. At that time I studied Movement Integration in the lineage with with Dorothy Nolte. I've since studied with Jan Sultan and Neal Powers, both teachers from the first generation who trained with Dr Rolf.

  • In-depth mentoring between 2010 - 2024 with Ron Thompson and Sharon Wheeler, two of Dr Rolf’s early students.

  • Studied Zero Balancing with founder Fritz Smith, M.D., who also trained with Dr. Rolf

  • Years of diverse craniosacral studies through the Milne and Upledger Institutes, as well as biodynamic studies with Charles Ridley and Giorgia Milne

  • 200-hour yoga teacher training certification through the Asheville Yoga Center

  • Somatic Movement Education with Janet Kaylo, who, among many things, transmitted the work of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in her classes

  • Experience with meditation is outlined here

  • Nationally certified through the Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Examiners (NCBTMB)

  • Approved continuing education provider through NCBTMB

  • Member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP)

  • Taught ScarWork for Sharon Wheeler from 2016- 2023

  • In 2023 returned for private mentoring with Charles Ridley, author of Stillness: Biodynamic Cranial Practice and the Evolution of Consciousness and Stillness Touch
